The 35th Annual Vermont Quilt Festival starts next Friday, June, 24 in Essex Junction, Vermont
Our next meeting...
Pamela Druhen is the curator of "The Art of the Quilt" exhibit at the Festival and has offered our SAQA Members a special gallery talk at 4 PM at the site of the exhibit. “The Art of Quilt” showcases the depth and breadth of work being created today in Vermont. In 2007, Vermont’s Shelburne Museum mounted an exhibit titled “Contemporary Vermont Quilts.” The work of Susan Balch, Judy Dales, Christine Fries, Marilyn Gillis, Eliza Greenhoe-Bergh, Karen Kamenetzky, Alexandra Nickerson, Carlene Raper, Judith Reilly, Mary K. Ryan, and Pamela Druhen put the public on notice that new things were happening in the quilt world. Where are they now? What are they doing? We have invited these artists to share their 21st century exploration of quilting as a medium.”
The plan...
Wear a Funky Flower Name tag with SAQA written on it somewhere to identify yourself in the crowd (something you’ve made or whatever you have time for). If you don't have time to put together a "Funky Flower" name tag....NOT to worry. I will have on bright flower and a hat (if it's not too hot) and a name tag so that you can find me.
Meet:
At the Blue Ribbon Pavilion around noon. You can buy or bring your lunch.
At the Exhibit site at 4 pm.
Perhaps we could also gather after the talk for a little "chat" session. Any suggestions?
Who's going?
Right now there are several SAQA members that have responded. If you are interested in joining us, please contact me ASAP by phone or email: 1-802-484-9791, susan@fishnquilt.com
Hope to see you there,
Susan
