Information about the Maine Event September 16-18!!

2nd Annual SAQA Meeting and Maine Event!

For all of you who either don't know about or haven't visited the Northern New England SAQA blog, here is all the information you have been waiting for about the 2nd annual Maine Event. Dinner Friday will be at Delvinos again (yeah!) and there is a new quilting store in Belfast with lots of Kaffe Fassett fabric including shot cotton. The art crawl is on again and I will convince as many places to stay open as possible. Dinner at 7:30. They have a bar for those interested.
Saturday will be a full day of workshops. We will start off with Wen Redmond teaching a "Stalking the Wild Print" workshop. At 1pm and 3pm we have 2 workshops: one is on Fugitive Media which Kerr Grabowski originated and presented by Judith DeMilo Brown and the other is a unique batik technique which I learned from the Kemshalls from Shropshire, England via DMTV) Using this technique you can batik opposite sides of the fabric different colors. Yeah, sounds very cool and it is. At noon we have a lunch at the facility (First Congregational Church, Searsport, Maine) which is a block from my house (last years location). It is a new building and handicapped accessible. The registration fee of $25. will cover the rental costs of the building , a cold breakfast (yogurt, granola, bagels, juices and coffee/tea) and a buffet lunch (sandwiches, wraps, fruit and drinks). Speaking of drinks, this Church has only 2 rules: 1. Clean up after yourself and 2. NO alcohol in the building. There will be plenty of cocktail time before and after the workshops and show and tell. We are planning for a huge Show and Tell Saturday night at the church and it will be open to the public so bring your knock-out work and we will come prepared to be dazzled!!!!
On Sunday we are having a "Technique-Go-Round" with 6-8 mini-workshops about 15-20 minutes each with presenters demonstrating some fabulous technique they love to do. We are looking for volunteers to conduct these mini-works so this may be an opportunity for your 15 minutes of fame. PLEASE DO VOLUNTEER (email me).
This year will be bigger and better than last year. Contact info for accommodations are on the poster on the NNE SAQA blog.
You now have my email. My phone number is 207-548-0281. Please call or email. I love answering questions.
Also PLEASE REGISTER USING THE SURVEY MONKEY WEBSITE
And remember to call or email for info. I will send out another email in a few weeks with materials you will need for the workshops.(minimal)
