Small quilt sandwich materials, about 12x12 to 15 x 15 (or 10x14, just a decent size with four areas to play/quilt):
- Top fabric should be white, muslin, or other light fabric
- Batting
- Backing (plain is good, not a print. If you’ve got a “why do I have this?” print that is fairly plain on the wrong side, that works, too, for the back.
- Safety pins to baste
Threads
- White
- Very dark (purple, navy, or forest green)
- One color in three values, for example tan/med. brown/deep chocolate or lilac/purple/eggplant—whatever color you have that you can get 3 distinct values
Several bobbins, with light, medium and dark colors (or just use a medium value)
Marking tool: blue pen is perfect! Marking pencils also great (just be wary of yellow anything). But since this is just a practice effort, anything including plain old No. 2 pencil will work.
If you have an idea for a quilt, bring a photo or sketch, if you would like quilting suggestions. We may have time for a brainstorming / idea session.
