Our Next Regional Monthly Meeting on Zoom

Saturday May 14, 2022 10 AM to Noon

Moderator: Ree Fagan

This month's opening subject: Margaret Sheehan — Pricing Your Quilts

Join in the conversation about pricing your Art Quilts.  Margaret Sheehan will demonstrate how to access a video from the SAQA website.  We will watch “The Price is Right” together, a recent SAQA video taped during the SAQA seminar, then open the floor for discussion.

For our June meeting, we’ll be watching the SAQA Skill Swap “Let’s Wrap”, from Lisa Dodson. This presentation provides a step-by-step tutorial on how to wrap an art quilt with mitered corners onto a deep, gallery wrapped canvas.  This technique will create nice sharp corners and give your art more wall power.

We look forward to seeing everyone on the 14th

The Regional Monthly Zoom meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10am - noon. Everyone is welcome to hang out, show and tell your work, and build your artistic community.

Our monthly meeting is not a critique meeting. If you would like to share your work, please have your images easily accessible on your desktop. New to Zoom? There's a lot of support from the other people in the meeting, and joining in is a great way to learn. For an excellent Zoom tutorial, check out the SAQA site. What is a Skill Swap?

This program is a new program this spring intended for the REGIONAL REPS as a way to provide additional content for their regional meetings. These presentations will be available only by request from a regional rep for a specific regional meeting. It will not be posted on the SAQA website or made available to the general membership.  Members attending our May monthly meeting will to asked to choose possible SAQA Skill Swaps of interest for both July and September meetings.

Lisa Dobson has given us permission to record the June presentation on her techniques for mitered corners framing presentation. She is teaching a workshop that day and will be unable to join us, but the narrated presentation is excellent—very clear. I am still  working out details with her about how we might be able to give members in our region who were unable to attend this upcoming meeting a way to view this.

The August monthly meeting will also include the SAQA Skill Swap on Cyanotype Printing. Mary Jo Stipe is available to join our monthly meeting then for a discussion after and to answer any further questions that you might have. She also has given permission to record this. Again, I will work with her for options for those unable to attend our meeting.
