10:05 Discussion
From Linda Diak: I just finished a conversation with an art quilter who reached out to me from another state. She said no one in her SAQA group was willing to share techniques or answer questions. She said it was more like a highly competitive mean girls club.
I find that quite sad, and I want to take this opportunity to thank all who attend the meetings and share their work. You never know who or what you inspire when you do, but I guarantee that does indeed happen.
In another textile art group she belongs to, they tried to encourage members to share techniques at meetings, and no one would step up. So now they are paying people to present and charging people to attend.
I thought, what a waste of resources. And then I remembered no one has offered to step up and share a technique or process at the meetings coming up, so this is a reminder that we would all love to see what you do (at show and tell and/or at one of the critique meetings), and how you do what you do at one of the monthly meetings.
Tips, tricks, techniques - any and all would be welcomed by all and will certainly inspire someone, somewhere, to try something new and possibly develop something that will in turn inspire your own work.
Anyone willing to share, please reach out to me via messenger or email me at linda@lindadiakquilts.com or call me at 802-374-0080. Thanks!

A few comments from Karen Kuranda, Your Regional Rep:
Since Linda posted her note on our regional Facebook group this week, one of our members in our region has already stepped up essentially the same day to offer to present a great technique. This is a great start. We have such amazing talent in our region - we already know what a great group we are, so generously offering each other encouragement and advice!
It truly takes a village. Please consider what you can also offer in techniques, tips, etc. and reach out to Linda Diak.
